The helicopter was in the air around Manhattan for about 15 minutes before the accident. The video showed that the helicopter immersed himself in the water without a tail rotor or a blade of the main rotor.

Jersey City Medical Center, where passengers were transported after the accident, tried as stronger, said Mayor Fulop.

Dani Horbiak told ABC News that he saw the helicopter “fall from the sky” from the window of his apartment.

“I heard five or six strong noises that sounded almost like shots in the sky and I saw that the pieces fell, then I saw him fall into the river,” he said.

The helicopter, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as Bell 206 helicopter, was on his sixth flight of the day. It was found upside down in the 50 degree water when rescuers arrived at the scene, which was closer to the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, according to the sources.

The Jersey City Police Department is taking the investigation initiative since the helicopter crashed on the Jersey City river side, Fulop said Thursday on Thursday.

Fulop said the city has had concerns about air traffic about Hudson before and expects this to provide more attention to its security concerns.
