The governor of Illinois seeks guarantees of the joint personnel leaders after the signal incident

The governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, asked the personnel leaders who give guarantees to all states and their governors about the specific steps that are being taken to protect national security because of the recent use of the application of signal messaging by the members of the administration of President Donald Trump to discuss sensitive foreign policy plans.

The Democratic governor sent a letter to the interim president of the chiefs of General Staff Chistopher Gray, obtained exclusively by ABC News, asking him to intervene in the name of the security of the service members.

Pritzker said he was coming when “he lost faith” in the capacity of the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegesh, one of the key members of the signal incident, to “maintain the integrity of our national defense operations.”

“I am communicating with you as the highest ranking military officer of our nation, since I have lost faith in the capacity of the Secretary of Defense to keep the members of the service safe and maintain the integrity of our national defense operations,” Pritzker wrote in the Charter.

The governor’s office did not comment on the letter in response to an ABC News request.

“It detailed the exact steps that the Federal Government will reign in dangerous and atrocious behavior that compromises national security, and the steps they will take to ensure that appropriate and safe channels, methods and protocols are used to protect classified information and safe communications,” Pritzker also requested.

He said he is looking for this information taking into account the military personnel of almost 13,000 military that serves in the Illinois National Guard.

“The secretary’s carelessness not only put at risk the lives of the pilots who execute the operation, but also puts the lives of troops around the world at risk, including members of the Illinois National Guard service,” Pritzker wrote.

“Currently, more than 1,700 members of the Illinois National Guard deploy in the Federal Active Service Service by the president of the President, so I cannot keep silent since their lives are at risk,” he added.

Pritzker, who has been at the forefront of going back against Trump and his policies among Democrats throughout the country, recently returned from a four -day trip to Mexico that was destined to boost economic associations between IT and Illinois.

ABC News has communicated with the graduation office for a response to Pritzker’s letter.
